Reading
1. Rurik’s reaction is
surprising because he is happy and congratulates Gunnar for hitting Hogni/he
finds it funny.
2. On the third day Gunnar
saw Kaupang.
3. The impression I have of
the alleys is that they are very narrow and lead all over at random. The word
‘wiggle’ could imply that they are alive or magical.
4. The description suggests
that the boats are comfortable and small because they are ‘nestling cozily’ and
they are happy/content because they are ‘like piglets suckling from their
mothers.’
5. On page 66 Gunnar meets
Gauk. He is friendly as he has an open grin and he has fair hair and blue eyes.
6. The two impressions I
have of Kaupang is that (two from) it’s dirty/unclean/disgusiting as there’s
mud, rats and mangy dogs. It’s dangerous as ‘strange faces peered at them from
the shadows. It’s smelly because ‘the mud grew thicker and smellier’.
7. Gunnar was tricked at
the end of the chapter because Gauk had lead him to the horrible Ivar and Njal
who hit Gunnar and held him hostage to take to the king.
Maths
Square – 4
Rectangle – 2
Cross – 4
Euilateral trinagle – 3
Isosceles triangle - 1
(a)
no lines of symmetry – any irregular shape (that has no
sides the same length)
(b) 1 line of symmetry – bring you work in and
show me when you get your pack and ill mark this one for you!
(c)
2 lines of symmetry - bring you work in and show me when
you get your pack and ill mark this one for you!
(d) No, if you fold a rectangle along it’s
diagonal line, there will not be two identical parts (it does not split into
half perfectly). However, the red line is a line of symmetry for the square.
(e) Pippa is wrong!
(f) An equilateral triangle has 3 sides and 3
lines of symmetry.
(g) A square has 4 sides and 4 lines of symmetry.
(h) A regular pentagon has 5 sides and 5 lines of
symmetry.
(i) Etc!
